Wisconsin vs Georgetown, 71-61: Highlights, final score and more

The Wisconsin Badgers and Georgetown Hoyas both needed a big win in this one as both have had a tough start to the year

Looking for their first win of the season, the Georgetown Hoyas met up with the Wisconsin Badgers at Madison Square Garden in New York to try and get the job done. It’s not like the Badgers have had the ideal start to the season, either, as they lost to Western Illinois to begin the year and dropped out of the rankings.

The winner of this 2K Classic semifinals game would go on to face the winner of No. 5 Duke and VCU — minus Shaka Smart — which would continue the tough stretch of games for both teams.

Although Georgetown has the talent, the Hoyas have yet to put together a full performance as they almost pulled a road upset at No. 3 Maryland earlier this week, but let a late lead slip though their hands. Wisconsin, on the other hand, is still looking for more scorers outside of Nigel Hayes and Bronson Koenig. Losing Frank Kaminsky, Sam Dekker, Josh Gasser and Traevon Jackson has really hurt this team.

The Hoyas controlled the entire game and handed the Badgers their second loss in the first four games. It’s time for both teams to regroup moving forward.

Three Stars

Isaac Copeland looked like an absolute star, leading the Hoyas to their first win of the year. He finished with 15 points and had eight rebounds.

Nigel Hayes might have been on the losing side of things, but he kept the Badgers in the game all day long, scoring 22 points and grabbing three rebounds.

Freshman center Jessie Govan had himself a game, finishing with 13 points, five rebounds and three assists, including a nice driving dunk along the baseline to really ice the game.
