Baylor vs. Oklahoma State, 45-35: Full highlights, final score and more
Baylor survived a litany of injuries to pick up a statement win over Oklahoma State
Jarrett Stidham and Shock Linwood were arguably the two most vital components of the Baylor Bears‘ offensive attack as they went into Stillwater for a Big 12 battle with the undefeated Oklahoma State Cowboys. Stidham and Baylor led Baylor in the first half and helped the Bears jump out to a lead over the first two quarters. However, the already injured Stidham got banged up again with an ankle injury and Linwood suffered an ankle injury of his own in the first half. Both players would not return for the second half, seemingly opening the door for Mason Rudolph and the Cowboys to climb back into the game.
However, Baylor’s third-string quarterback in Chris Johnson came in and made an immediate impact. The redshirt sophomore threw deep touchdown passes on his first two drives of the game, both on absolutely gorgeous throws down the field. Linwood’s backups in Devin Chafin and Johnny Jefferson weren’t slouches either as they both moved the ball downfield quite well, picking up key chunks of yardage all throughout the second half. Oklahoma State tried their best to climb back, but after cutting the lead to 10 points, Baylor recovered an onside kick and drove down for a Johnson rushing touchdown to seal the win. The Cowboys added a late rushing touchdown, but it wasn’t enough as they suffered their first loss of the season while Baylor put themselves back into the College Football Playoff picture.
Three stars
Chris Johnson was Baylor’s third-string quarterback at the start of the year, but played like a star when called upon in the second half. He threw a bad interception, but still amassed 138 yards passing and two touchdowns to go with 42 yards rushing and another touchdown on the ground.
KD Cannon had a ridiculous game for the Bears as the wide receiver finished the night with five catches for 210 yards and two scores.
Devin Chafin didn’t have a wowing stat-line, but his relief of Shock Linwood was huge for Baylor as he helped with big drives. He finished the night with 60 yards rushing and a touchdown.
