Boston College Eagles vs. Notre Dame Fighting Irish
The No. 4 Notre Dame Fighting Irish will look to keep playoff position with a win over the Boston College Eagles on Saturday in the first college football game at Fenway Park since 1968.
After suffering a narrow road loss to Clemson in early October, the Fighting Irish have won five in a row against a challenging schedule. Notre Dame could use another convincing win and some style points, as both Oklahoma Schools and Iowa are hot on its heels in the College Football Playoff rankings.
Backup quarterback DeShone Kizer hasn’t missed a beat filling in for the injured Malik Zaire, throwing for 2,042 yards and 21 touchdowns. Running back C.J. Prosise is also expected to play after sitting out last week against Wake Forest, giving the Fighting Irish plenty of weapons on offense.
After a promising start to the season, Boston College has lost six in a row to fall to 3-7 on the season. There is a chance some five-win teams could be bowl eligible if the 80 slots aren’t filled, and the Eagles will be hungry for their first win over Notre Dame since 2008.
The Eagles offense hasn’t done much this year, but their defense has been one of the more underrated units in the nation, allowing just 14.4 points per game. Defensive tackles Connor Wujciak and Truman Gutapfel lead a Boston College run defense that is good enough to challenge Prosise.
