Fenway Park was dressed to the nines prior to Saturday’s football game.

Saturday’s matchup between the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and Boston College Eagles took on a nice bit of extra flair thanks to the game being held at Fenway Park. Yup, for the first time in 50 years pigskin made its presence felt down on Yawkey Way.

The iconic venue did not disappoint in the lead-up, playing subject to one of the more beautiful photos you’ll see from this college football season.

More of these “gimmick” games, por favor. Northwestern’s game against Illinois a few years back was wonderfully weird (one end zone? why not!). And next year’s contest between Tennessee and Virginia Tech at Bristol Motor Speedway is sure to be stunning. Let’s make this a thing like the Winter Classic.

Florida and Miami playing at Daytona International Speedway.

Maryland and Navy playing at Camden Yards.

Iowa and Iowa State playing at the cornfield from Field of Dreams.

Sounds like a banner way to spice up what’s already the liveliest sport in all the land.

Hard to look at pictures like these and not dream.

Oh, and as for the Notre Dame-BC game, they’ll kick off at 7:30 p.m. Eastern.
