No. 12 Michigan Wolverines vs. Penn State Nittany Lions
Who says the Michigan Wolverines don’t have an effective offense? Jake Rudock passed for over 400 yards and six touchdowns in a ridiculous double overtime victory against the Indiana Hoosiers on the road a week ago. This was the senior transfer quarterback’s first big passing game as a Wolverine and it showed that he can step up when the team needs him most.
Rudock is the leader of an otherwise mediocre offense, but the defense is what makes Michigan such a scary team to face. Unfortunately for Penn State, the Wolverines boast one of the top defenses in the conference while the Nittany Lions have one of the poorest offenses.
You have to feel for junior quarterback Christian Hackenberg who could be one of the top two or three gunslingers in the conference, but his offensive line is about as effective as a paper bag trying to hold water. He has been sacked 32 times already this season, but he has cut his interception number drastically from a season ago.
The junior is making better decisions in the passing game, yet the Nittany Lions have a lethargic offense. Freshman running back Saquon Barkley could be a key factor in this one has he’s rushed for 836 yards and seven touchdowns already this season.
