The Carolina Panthers had the perfect troll on Washington regarding their nickname

The controversy over the Washington Redskins nickname has been one of the most predominant debates in sports for quite some time. While many fans and countless others recognize the racial insensitivity of the “Redskins” name, the organization and other fans maintain the tradition of the name in regards to the NFL. It’s an ongoing war, but Washington’s Week 11 opponent in the Carolina Panthers is on the sidelines of that war waiting with jokes.

On Saturday before the Carolina-Washington matchup, the Redskins official Twitter posted the following tweet:

That seems like pretty harmless trash talk from Washington, simply acknowledging their fans that will be in Carolina on Sunday afternoon. However, the Panthers official Twitter account wasn’t having any of that encroachment on their territory. Subsequently, they replied with the most epic troll possible:

In case you didn’t know, the Panthers are referencing the chapter in the nickname controversy where a federal judge cancelled the Redskins’ trademark in the midst of the outcry in opposition of the name. Essentially, this is a perfect troll from whoever is running the Twitter account of the Panthers. Not only is it hilarious in its own right, but there’s also literally nothing that Washington could reply with. They lose by default, no matter what happens on the field on Sunday.
