San Francisco 49ers vs. Seattle Seahawks

The San Francisco 49ers will be on the road at CenturyLink Field to take on the Seattle Seahawks in Week 11 just a day after they announced that quarterback Colin Kaepernick will be out for the rest of the season after he was put on injured reserve. Subsequently, it will be Blaine Gabbert leading the charge for the 49ers without injured starting running back Carlos Hyde. The banged up Niners offense will be up against Richard Sherman, Earl Thomas, and the vaunted Seahawks defense that will almost surely be looking to get things back on track as a unit. Meanwhile, Russell Wilson will lead the charge for Seattle’s offense, though running back Marshawn Lynch is listed as questionable for this game.

Keys to Victory

The Seahawks secondary always has the potential to cause problems for opposing offenses, but the key against the 49ers is going to be getting a consistent pass-rush. In Gabbert’s one start this season, he looked surprisingly competent as the Falcons were unable to consistently pressure him into making quick, decisive decisions without going through his reads. If the Seahawks can force him into playing in that manner, Gabbert has proven over his career that he will make mistakes that the Seahawks can capitalize on.

For the 49ers, it’s their defense that is going to be key. It’s hard to have a ton of faith in their offense considering Gabbert starting and their best offensive weapon in Hyde being out, but their defense could still step up. Seattle has been mediocre-at-best offensively this season overall and, with Lynch possibly not playing or being limited, the offense won’t even be at full strength on Sunday. If the 49ers can possibly create turnovers, they may have a chance to upset Seattle.

Prediction

Everything about this matchup points to the fact that the Seahawks are going to prevail in this contest. They have more talent and a defense that can cause Gabbert problems. Even Vegas isn’t giving the 49ers a chance. However, I’m calling for a big road upset with San Francisco coming out with a win.

Final Score: San Francisco 49ers: 23, Seattle Seahawks: 21
