Bengals vs Cardinals, 34-31: Full highlights, final score and more
The Cincinnati Bengals were playing for a chance to rebound from their first loss of the year while the Arizona Cardinals are looking to stay hot.
The Cincinnati Bengals were looking to bounce back from their first loss of the season a week ago against the Houston Texans and a road victory against the Arizona Cardinals will definitely ease the pain. Andy Dalton was also coming off his worst performance of the year and Tyler Eifert had to put a handful of drops behind him.
Arizona had yet another tough test against the Bengals as the Cardinals just had to hit the road to play, and beat, the Seattle Seahawks a week ago.
This was one of the most anticipated Sunday night football games and it delivered as Carson Palmer rebounded from a horrid two-interception start to throw a number of impressive touchdown passes.
Dalton and the Bengals’ offense kept pace, tying the game at 31 with just a minute left in regulation. However, Palmer just showed off, setting the Cardinals up in field goal range with just a few ticks left as Chandler Catanzaro hit a 32-yarder with a second left.
Three Stars
Carson Palmer recovered from two early interceptions to have a great offensive day against his former team, completing 20-of-31 passes for 317 yards and four touchdowns.
J.J. Nelson broke out for the Cardinals at receiver, catching four passes for 142 yards, including a huge 64-yard touchdown catch to start the second half.
Andy Dalton rebounded from a poor performance a week ago and passed for 315 yards and two touchdowns, with his leading receiver being running back Giovani Bernard.
Full Highlights
Betting Odds
The Cardinals were four-point favorites in this one and the over/under was set at 47.5 points. The over was easily achieved, but it took until the final minutes to find out if the Cardinals would cover the spread, but they did not — Arizona won by just three.
Next Week
The Bengals will host the St. Louis Rams next week as they’re looking to take care of business against an inferior team — something they couldn’t do last week. A win would be huge and another step toward locking up a playoff spot.
Arizona will hit the road to take on the reeling San Francisco 49ers who can’t seem to buy a win at this point in time. The Cardinals should win that one and continue to extend their lead in the NFC West.
