Is Roman Reigns going to turn heel to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Survivor Series?
Roman Reigns is going to be heavily featured at WWE Survivor Series 2015. After the injury to Seth Rollins forced him to vacate the WWE World Heavyweight Championship and after the tournament to determine the new champ was in place, it seemed like a foregone conclusion that Reigns was going to wind up in the finals of the tournament with the belt at stake. Both the semifinals and final will take place at Survivor Series.
With Reigns now in the semifinals of the tournament in a match against Alberto Del Rio, that he’ll be in the main event for the title still seems like a mere formality. The question on everyone’s mind going into the pay-per-view, though, is what will happen once Reigns does make it to the main event with the title on the line.
Considering how the tournament has played out, it seems like the likely plans within WWE are to have Reigns and Ambrose meet in the tournament final. As both wrestlers are faces, that would lend itself to one of them turning heel. Ambrose as a heel could work, but the only smart choice would be to turn Roman Reigns heel at Survivor Series.
For one, at least half the crowd is already booing him. The current era of wrestling crowds doesn’t support superstars that are infallible faces, such as the John Cenas of the world. Therefore, a heel turn would play into what the fans want, while also allowing Reigns to further his character without having to worry about if he’s getting cheered or booed.
Moreover, it makes total sense in terms of storyline. Before Rollins’ injury, he was in line for a title shot as the No. 1 contender. Yet, he still had to go through this tournament. So if he were to ultimately take The Authority’s deal so that he can be champ instead of actually having to win the title himself, it would make sense in terms of his character’s story.
I don’t know what will happen at Survivor Series with Roman Reigns. However, I know what should happen; there is no question that the smartest course of action in every way is to turn Roman Reigns heel on Sunday night.
