Starting the game without Trevone Boykin, No. 18 TCU was faced with a tough task of trying to upset No. 7 Oklahoma on the road.

Coming into the game without their starting quarterback and a top Heisman contender, the TCU Horned Frogs were looking to step up their level of play and prove to the nation that their hot start wasn’t a fluke. Backup quarterback Foster Sawyer had a rough start, but tried to ease his way back into some confidence.

Sawyer couldn’t do anything through the air, though, and Bram Kohlhausen came in to give the Horned Frogs some life, tossing a crucial 86-yard touchdown pass.

As for the Oklahoma Sooners, Baker Mayfield got knocked out of the game with an injury and they had to rely on Trevor Knight to come in and get the job done. It wasn’t the prettiest of offensive games, but the Sooners found a way to win without their star and the Sooners control their own destiny.

Although this game didn’t have the hype that it had a few weeks ago when both teams were completely healthy and the Horned Frogs were still unbeaten and in the top 10, it was still a solid win by the Sooners who can still make the College Football Playoff and it came down to the wire.

Three Stars

Samaje Perine had the best game of anyone, rushing for 188 yards and a touchdown on 26 carries. He led the offense all day long.

Have to include Baker Mayfield on here even though he went out with an injury. He passed for 127 yards and two touchdowns on 9-of-20 completions. Wasn’t pretty.

Sterling Shepard led all receivers, catching eight passes for 111 yards and a touchdown.

Betting Odds

Oklahoma was an unbelievable 17-point favorite heading into this one with the over/under was set at 63 points. The Sooners couldn’t nearly cover, but the over was achieved.

Next Week

Oklahoma will have arguably its biggest game of the season next weekend as the Sooners will travel to face in-state rival Oklahoma State with a conference title and a College Football Playoff berth on the line.

In a game that would have looked like a fight for the conference title with College Football Playoff implications, the Horned Frogs will host the Baylor Bears.
