Champions League: Jose Mourinho fixes grass mid-game (Video)

The field conditions are so bad in the Champions League, Jose Mourinho is on the field fixing them.

Chelsea FC is at Sammy Ofer Stadium in Haifa, Israel to play Maccabi Tel-Aviv in Champions League group stage action.

The field conditions are apparently pretty horrendous. At one point during the first half, while the game is being played mind you, Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho went onto the field to fix the grass.

Watch below:

American sports fans are all too familiar with field condition complaints in football, we’ve seen it blamed for injuries to players. It doesn’t quite look like the seam issue we’ve seen in Houston, it looks more like a huge chunk of grass got unrooted, similar to what you see in golf.

This of course becomes a problem when the sport you’re playing requires the ball to roll smoothly over the grass.

Mourinho is well aware of what he was doing, and that it would be caught on camera, when he walked out onto that field to fix it. Before the game Mourinho was already complaining about the pitch being “really bad” and you can probably expect it to be addressed again after the game.
