3. Jameis Winston ties NFL record

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers routed the Philadelphia Eagles on the road. The final score of 45-17 tells only part of the story. First-overall 2015 draft pick Jameis Winston threw for five touchdowns and broke the NFL record for touchdowns by a rookie in a single game.

Winston completed 65.5% of his passes on Sunday and threw for a total of 246 yards, similar to his usual per-game total this season. His five touchdowns tied Detroit Lions quarterback Matt Stafford, who was a rookie in 2009, and the Chicago Bears’ Ray Buivid, who was a rookie in 1937.

Winston wasn’t the only Buccaneer who had a spectacular game. Running back Doug Martin ran for 235 yards during the the Week 12 route of the Eagles, who are ranked 28th in rushing defense. Though the Buccaneers are ranked third in the NFC South at 5-5, they are ranked third in total rushing yards in the entire NFL.
