According to a report, Penguins superstar Sidney Crosby and owner and former Penguins’ legend Mario Lemieux have had a ‘falling out’ with each other.

The Pittsburgh Penguins have a solid roster and are a good team in the Eastern Conference. The problem with that is that they should be a great team, with Sidney Crosby at the helm.

Despite winning one Stanley Cup with Crosby and making two trips to the Stanley Cup Finals, the Penguins haven’t achieved quite as much as people would expect them to, since Crosby won his first Stanley Cup.

This season, the Penguins are off to a solid start with 24 points, which is good for third in the Metropolitan Division. Unfortunately for the Penguins, that just isn’t going to fly in Pittsburgh, where there is a thirst for the Stanley Cup each and every season.

With all of that being said, are there problems within the organization for the Pittsburgh Penguins? According to former Penguin Matthew Barnaby, there are problems between Sidney Crosby and former Penguins’ legend and current co-owner Mario Lemieux.

On Barnaby’s show on SiriusXM, Barnaby mentioned that there are problems between the two sides.

"“But the more and more I looked into it, the more I found out, people with the same sentiments that there’s a big falling out between Mario (Lemieux) and (Sidney) Crosby. Now whether that pushes them to move him at some point? Whether he wants to move? That I don’t know, “ he said."

When Barnaby was further pressed exactly about what the issue with Crosby is, he mentioned coaching and losing in the playoffs in 2014.

"“I’ve heard over coaching, I’ve heard also after the (2014) playoffs when they lost out,” Barnaby said. “Maybe the personnel isn’t right?”"

So if the rumors are to be believed about the falling out between the two, it really appears that the lack of recent success is really affecting the Penguins? Is that on Crosby for not carrying the team to more Stanley Cups? Is that on the front office for not putting better talent around him? Is the coaching not right? There are lot of questions regarding this that need to be asked.

Still, when heard about this report, Mario Lemieux vehemently denied the report of issues existing between him and Crosby.

Whether or not the report is true, there is one thing that is certain– and that is no one likes losing. The Penguins are a team that’s good enough to make the playoffs ever year. However, they are a team that should be achieving so much more than just one Stanley Cup.
