Happy Thanksgiving! On a “normal” week, these picks would run on Friday, but with the collective attention of the football-watching public on the NFL for Thanksgiving, we had to bring you the knowledge a day early. At the moment, we are scalding hot after another 4-1 week (8-2 in the last two!), so if you want to fade me, be my guest. It may not be the worst idea in the world. Anyway, let’s see where we stand on the year.

  • Last week: 4-1
  • Season: 32-21-2

Yes, my friends, we are making money. Now, to this week’s selections. Best of luck to us all.

Philadelphia Eagles (+2) over Detroit Lions

At first glance, this might seem like the “public” side, but not anymore. Philadelphia has been scuffling in a big way offensively, and everything came to a head with a disastrous performance on both sides of the football against Tampa Bay. On the flip side, the Lions have suddenly won two games in a row and people are beginning to trust them.

Don’t.

Nearly 70% of the action (via Sports Insights) is on Detroit at this point in the week, and even on Thanksgiving, I can’t fully buy in to the Lions in a spot where they are clearly the less talented team. Mark Sanchez is likely the quarterback for Philly here, but it almost doesn’t matter if Sam Bradford doesn’t play. Philly is the better team and without having to lay points, I’ll take the Eagles and fade the public.
