Things have gone from bad to worse for the Philadelphia Eagles, as starting cornerback Nolan Carroll has broken his ankle.

When it rains it pours for the Philadelphia Eagles.

At this point, the Philadelphia Eagles’ season can’t come to an end soon enough. On Thursday, the Eagles got absolutely blasted by the Detroit Lions in their Thanksgiving contest at Ford Field. Even worse was the fact that it looked like the Eagles had quit on the field.

Now, all anyone can talk about is the future, or in this case the lack thereof for head coach Chip Kelly. If that wasn’t just one great big distraction that the team has had to deal with, the team received even worse news, when they found out that starting cornerback Nolan Carroll has broken his ankle.

For the Eagles, it’s bad news as they have been getting absolutely torched in the passing game this season. Without Carroll, teams are likely going to keep going after them through the air as they try to hold on for whatever they have left in the final month of the season.

With big questions looming for the franchise, the last thing they needed was more bad news on the day. Hopefully for Carroll, he can quickly rebound and heal up in the off-season so that he can be a productive player in the league next year, whether it’s for the Eagles or another franchise.

Carroll finally became a full-time starter for the Eagles this season. He started alongside Byron Maxwell, and the hope was that the Eagles would have a pretty dynamic secondary. Unfortunately for them, that hope didn’t ever come to fruition, as the two have been torched multiple times this season.

On a day where enough bad things happened to the Eagles, one more piece of bad news has come out for the franchise.
