LSU tried to come out and deny all the Les Miles rumors on Friday, but they weren’t really smart about it
We can all agree at this point, especially here on Friday, that the Les Miles rumors have gotten out of hand. First there were the reports that Miles met with boosters and announced that he would be coaching his final game for the Tigers on Saturday against Texas A&M. Then, literally immediately after that, there were reports that Miles denied ever telling them anything like that.
So, with all of the confusion in the air here, the official LSU football Twitter account decided that they would jump right in and try to calm all of the madness down. They went on the ol’ internet and proclaimed to everyone that there was no way Miles would be resigning from his post after the weekend.
Smart, right?
Contrary to media reports, #LSU coach Les Miles has not resigned nor did he indicate he was resigning when speaking to booster group today.

Well, actually, no. In reality, this is one of the worst statements they could have made in letting everyone know what’s going on with Miles. Or, at least trying to let everyone know.
Here’s the thing: It’s common knowledge that Miles has a $15 million buyout on his contract if LSU is crazy enough to let the two-time SEC winner be on his way. So it goes without saying that Miles, for as eccentric as he is at times, is not an idiot. There’s no way under any circumstances that he would “resign.” He, much like anyone else, will stick around Baton Rouge until he’s told it’s time to go, at which point he can pick up his nice little check he earned for the Tigers’ ineptness.
Nice try, LSU, but this was not the best move to make with everything going on. Especially when most of the reports do state, and have stated, that you’re the ones ready to can him.
