A.J. Green hauled in his second touchdown of the day with a great catch in traffic

A.J. Green opened up the scoring for the Cincinnati Bengals against the St. Louis Rams after he was inexplicably left wide-open in the first quarter. Obviously, the Rams were going to try and avoid doing that going forward. In the third quarter, they had solid coverage on Green with the Bengals in the red zone, but it didn’t really matter with the star receiver going after the ball.

Green’s route led him to the front of the end zone in the middle portion of the field, but with two Rams defensive backs in the area. Andy Dalton fired a pass anyway and Green jumped to make a great play and then managed to hang on while taking a big hit for his second score of the afternoon:

This is why you have to at least try to cover Green; even when there’s two guys on him, he’s still talented enough to make a big catch and put six points on the board.

Two of Green’s six receptions through the third quarter went for touchdowns, which moves his total scores on the season to six. If he’s in this kind of zone for the rest of the season, though, the rest of the league needs to be put on notice.
