A picture of 19-year-old Bill Belichick has surfaced, and it does not disappoint. 

It’s not often you see New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick smile.

However, it’s unlikely that he has always been a grumpy old football guru, and this picture proves it. ESPN’s Darren Rovell recently tweeted a picture that suggests that Belichick hasn’t always been the stone-faced, hoodie-wearing football coach, and it proves that he was once a dorky teenager like the rest of us.

The same young man that you see above went on to lead the New England Patriots to four Super Bowl victories and countless division championships. He has catalyzed the Patriots into one of the best organizations in the NFL. Year in and year out, the Patriots are in the thick of things come January and February, and it’s all because of that dorky 19-year-old.

It’s always great to see pictures of NFL icons like Belichick before they became who they are, and this case is particularly awesome. This clearly does not seem like the face of the best coach in the NFL today, and arguably one of the best football coaches of all time. I don’t think Belichick was winning any “Most Likely to Win a Superbowl” superlatives.

Belichick is rocking a Spock-style bowl cut and a near-unibrow that even Anthony Davis would be impressed with. Not to mention, the horror move smile that Belichick is sporting chills the bones. Seriously Bill, what were you thinking?

However, this photo does make you wonder if Belichick cut the sleeves off the hoodie he was wearing.
