The Miami Dolphins and New York Jets faced off in a contest up in East Rutherford.
If nothing else for this season, the New York Jets can always hang their hats on the fact that they put it on Miami in both contests the between the teams. After Game 1, the Dolphins fired Joe Philbin one day after returning from London. In this second game, well, there likely won’t be any firings, but the Jets did lay waste to the Fish.
Look out, League, Ryan Fitzpatrick is playing like a man possessed. Fitzy tossed for 277 yards and four touchdowns on Sunday, to the tune of a 118.9 QBR. The receiver for nearly half of those yards was Brandon Marshall, who had 131 yards and two touchdowns. All in the name of a balanced offense, Chris Ivory banged out a yeoman 87 yards on 21 carries.
While New York’s defense could hardly contain Jarvis Landry (165 yards), it tightened up the clamps on the money down (third down, for the uninitiated). Between a 4-for-15 third down conversion rate and two turnovers, the Dolphins were plain overmatched.
