Jimmer Fredette looks like a superstar in the D-League

Jimmer Fredette has been a bust in the NBA. There’s no way of getting around the fact that the prolific college guard simply hasn’t made an impact in the Association since he was selected in the lottery of the 2011 NBA Draft. However, he seems to be enjoying quite a bit of success in the D-League as a member of the Westchester Knicks.

After rejoining the Knicks’ D-League affiliate following a brief stint with the New Orleans Pelicans this season, Fredette and his team were taking on the Grand Rapids Drive on Monday night. Subsequently, Jimmer was looking like the player we saw at BYU, especially in terms of pulling up and knocking down threes in transition:

Monday was actually Jimmer’s debut with the D-League team and he didn’t disappoint. That pull-up three in transition gave him 25 points through just the first three quarters.

Fredette’s shortcomings in the NBA have always been a bit curious, especially with the transition in style of play in the league to being geared more toward three-point shooting. He’s obviously a limited athlete, but man the guy can shoot the basketball. Perhaps this run in the D-League is just what he needs to get a late jump on a successful NBA career. If not, at least we’ll have his D-League highlights.
