NFL Power Rankings: Panthers are new No. 1 entering Week 13
By Staff
Another week of NFL action has come and gone and it was a rather boring week all things considered, as far as the Sunday slate of games went. The teams that were expected to win, won for the most part.
The lone exceptions to the rule was the showdown between the Seattle Seahawks and Pittsburgh Steelers, both fighting for wins to stay in the Wild Card race in their respective conferences. The New England Patriots and Denver Broncos had a classic showdown in the snow on Sunday Night Football despite Peyton Manning sitting out because of an injury.
Thanksgiving was far more interesting. The Detroit Lions continued to roll after making changes to the coaching staff and issued a thorough beatdown of the Philadelphia Eagles. The Carolina Panthers remained undefeated after they poured a bucket of ice water on the Dallas Cowboys’ hopes of making a run at the NFC East crown. Then the Chicago Bears spoiled the Green Bay Packers party on Thursday night, winning at Lambeau Field as they honored Brett Favre.
Nevertheless, we power ranked the NFL field heading into Monday Night Football and Week 13. Obviously the Baltimore Ravens and Cleveland Browns haven’t played yet, but does anyone really expect that game to have a meaningful impact on the power rankings of the entire league anyways?
