Break up the Jets! If nothing else, New York really knows how to stick in to the Miami Dolphins this year. While no coaches got fired after Sunday’s game (R.I.P. Joe Philbin’s professional head coaching career), the Jets laid waste to the Dolphins.

Ryan Fitzpatrick turned on the way-way-way back machine and hurled four touchdowns and damn near 300 yards. Meanwhile, Brandon Marshall proved that he can still put up a big game if needed – accounting for nearly half of the team’s receiving yards. The pair looked like the Cutler-Marshall tandems of old. Meanwhile, Chris Ivory banged home over 80 yards on the ground to keep Miami honest.

And this is how it goes with the Jets. To win they need a completely balanced performance from all fronts. The ground game must keep pressure off the quarterback. The passing game must prevent defenses from stacking the box. And the defense must neutralize disaster.

Jarvis Landry put up some serious stats against the Jets, but it was the case of letting one guy eat while starving the rest of the team. If it works, then play it big.

New York is still in the playoff hunt, if only a back-end squad. Nevertheless, they will end up playing spoiler at some point and are a team that nobody should sleep on – a far cry from the doormat of 2014.
