The Kansas City Chiefs looked like they were going to get embarrassed at Arrowhead Stadium by the Buffalo Bills in the first half. Sammy Watkins had a pair of touchdown catches and was making cornerback Sean Smith look rather silly, but then the Chiefs closed out the first half in impressive fashion to change the momentum in the game.

Two big passes from Alex Smith to Jeremy Maclin and a pass interference penalty helped the Chiefs narrow the lead before the break and the Chiefs nearly took the lead as time expired but the Chiefs missed a 54-yard field goal to end the half.

The Chiefs came out and scored a touchdown on the opening drive of the second half, then recovered a fumble to set up a field goal to take the lead early in the third quarter and they never looked back.

The Chiefs are over .500 and could steal the AFC West from the Denver Broncos if they continue to struggle down the stretch as they figure out their quarterback situation and whether that includes the legendary Peyton Manning.

The Chiefs have an intriguing match-up next week when they play the Oakland Raiders on the road. The Raiders have show flashes of brilliance at times and the Chiefs have to be seeing every game as a must-win if they want to steal the division from the Broncos, but they’re in the mix for a Wild Card berth at the moment.
