Look, the Tennessee Titans are not winning any beauty pageants, that’s for sure. Are they good? Oh hell no. Are they absolutely worthless trash good for nothing more than cleaning up an oil slick in the driveway? Also a no.

The Titans are a young club on the uptick. Marcus Mariota is going through the rookie learning curve, but to his credit he hasn’t shrunk from the pressures of his job. In fact, Mariota has outplayed expectations in the eyes of plenty. When given time (see: not laying on his back staring up at a defensive lineman) he’s been decently effective. Turnovers are an issue, but those numbers will be reduced as the game slows down.

Please, oh please, can we find a running game for the Titans? Those days of everyone picking Bishop Sankey first in their fantasy football rookie drafts seems so far away, no? Any bit of help on that front will be a wonderful boon.

It’ll be interesting to see what direction the Titans go with for their next head coach. Ian Rapoport dropped a minor nugget of news on Sunday that Tennessee may have interest in him. Is the Kelly-Mariota bromance enough for them to make that run? Whatever the case, axing Whisenhunt was a sound play.
