NFL Power Rankings: Panthers are new No. 1 entering Week 13

The San Francisco 49ers haven’t had a lot to hang their hats on this season, and it looked like they were going to have a reason to celebrate on Sunday briefly, giving the NFC West-leading Arizona Cardinals a run for their money.
The 49ers and Cardinals were tied at 13 points apiece heading into the fourth quarter and the 49ers let Carson Palmer run it in for a touchdown to win the game.
49ers fans bemoaned the referees and claim that they handed the Cardinals a lot of favorable situations to win the game. The 49ers were flagged 13 times for 81 yards. The Cardinals were also flagged seven times by comparison.
Where the 49ers really lost the game was in time of possession. The Cardinals had possession for roughly 37 and a half minutes, leaving the 49ers time of possession at roughly 22 and a half minutes.
But the 49ers couldn’t get a big win and suffered their eighth loss of the season. Next week the 49ers play the Bears at Solider Field and that could be a tough task after they knocked off the Green Bay Packers on Thanksgiving. The 49ers could expect some wins down the stretch, but they likely aren’t making a run at .500.
