Despite their more than rocky relationship and all out feud, Shaquille O’Neal took some time on twitter to congratulate Kobe Bryant on his retirement.
The way Shaquille O’Neal reacted to Kobe Bryant’s retirement announcement over twitter, you wouldn’t think there was hardly a feud between the two former Lakers players. Earlier Monday Morning, Shaq took to twitter to congratulate Kobe as well as bookended the tweet with one of the more endearing phrases to come from the 7 foot 1 center. We’ve posted that tweet below.
Shaquille O’Neal states that he loves Kobe Bryant like a brother despite their rocky relationship and offered the Mamba some advice on his upcoming retirement.
"“Its time for u to take it all in,” Shaq tweeted, “Sit back, relax & enjoy all that u have built. Love u lil bro.”"
Whatever beef was lingering between the two superstars has all been squashed when back in August, the two appeared together on Shaq’s podcast “The Big Podcast” where Kobe himself admitted that he was somewhat of, “an idiot when I was a kid” and that he “should’ve kept his mouth shut” when airing out his beef with Shaq in the media. Even Shaq himself was a bit remorse about his decision to leave L.A.
"I definitely did not want to leave L.A., but you know that’s how you’ve got to talk when you’re in business, especially when you think you’re in control. A lot of stuff was said out of the heat of the moment.”"
Despite their supposed feud, The two were able to win three consecutive NBA Championships (2000, 2001, 2002) and make an NBA Finals appearance in 2004.
