5) Tough draw

The Broncos’ remaining schedule is not the easiest by any stretch of the imagination, with the easiest game coming against the San Diego Chargers in Week 17.

The Chargers have been poor all year. However, with Rivers under center and playing well, they are always a dangerous club. Furthermore, they have nothing to lose at this point, and will enter match up with a degree of reckless confidence.

The Broncos then must travel to Pittsburgh in Week 15 and then play host to the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday Night Football. Both are tough games (even despite the injury to Andy Dalton), and if the Broncos were to lose both, their AFC West title could be decided in the final week.

All things considered, the Broncos are not out of the woods yet. With a tough remaining schedule, and the possibility of the Chiefs winning out, the AFC West is still up for grabs. It is not all that implausible that Denver slips from atop the division. With the defensive injuries, issues along the offensive line and uncertainty at quarterback, the Broncos are a target to be shot down, and they are certainly no longer bullet proof.
