College Football Results Against The Spread Week 13
This was the last full week of football for the 2015 season, so I needed to do well here to reach my goal of 55%. I only missed one game in my pickem, racking up 53 points there this week. I missed out on that Guinness by two lousy points! I would have tied if I had picked Ohio State. Oh well, I can be happy about finishing in the 90th percentile there. Usually pick em success translates well into my picks against the spread. It has the last two weeks.

Here are the college football results against the spread week 13. Winners against the spread are in BOLD. Here are the picks if you wish to follow along!
Bowling Green(-23.5) at Ball State: HIT! I should have put more on this. Ball State really stumbled to the finish this year.
Ohio at Northern Illinois(-11.5): MISS! Ohio had good games like this here and there, but they were way too inconsistent to rely on.
South Florida(-24.5) at Central Florida: HIT! USF might have been the most improved team over the course of the year. They are going to be a sleeper team in the AAC next year.
Texas Tech at Texas(-1.5): HIT! All four road teams beat the spread in the early games. There were 42 points scored in the fourth quarter alone in this one. If you missed it, you missed another great Big 12 shootout!
Miami(FL) at Pittsburgh(-5.5): MISS! Well, this cost Pitt a good bowl berth. Miami will likely take it instead.
Marshall at Western Kentucky(-10.5): HIT! The Hilltoppers are going to scare someone in a bowl game this year. It was also a triumphant return for TE Tyler Higbee, who scored two touchdowns.
Navy(-2.5) at Houston: HIT! I expected Houston to win, but I didn’t expect them to blow out the Middies.
Western Michigan at Toledo(-8.5): MISS! I should have stuck with my initial feeling on this one.
Kent State at Akron(-10.5): HIT! I’m going to miss not being able to pick Akron this week. They were money (literally) for me down the stretch!
Eastern Michigan at Central Michigan(-23.5): MISS! Yes, this counts as a moral victory for the Eagles. However, giving up 28 third quarter points to the Chippewas must hurt.
Troy at Georgia State(-1.5): HIT! So close, yet so far for Georgia State. Now they face in-state rival Georgia Southern for a chance at a bowl berth.
Missouri at Arkansas(-13.5): HIT! I had Missouri’s score right. I was eight points too low for the Hogs, who dominated once again.
Washington State at Washington(-5.5): MISS! I couldn’t have been more wrong about this one. At least the Cougars looked decent for a quarter or so….
Iowa(-1.5) at Nebraska: HIT! It wasn’t ugly, unless you were a Nebraska fan watching Tommy Armstrong throw four interceptions…..
Boise State(-7.5) at San Jose State: MISS! Well, Boise woke up just in time for bowl season….
Oregon State at Oregon(-35.5): MISS! Yeah, I knew better…..
Massachusetts at Buffalo(-6.5): HIT! This shouldn’t have been a surprise, and I should have put more on it and not trusted Washington State with a backup QB.
Baylor at TCU(EVEN): MISS! I would have liked Baylor if this game weren’t played in a monsoon. It was fun actually watching these teams use a punter though.
Tulsa(-6.5) at Tulane: HIT! Easy money.
Iowa State at West Virginia(-13.5): MISS! I knew better. The Cyclones have been a disaster on the road.
Cincinnati at East Carolina(-1.5): HIT! It was still closer than I thought it would be, if that is any consolation for ECU.
SMU at Memphis(-21.5): HIT! Paxton Lynch only threw 14 passes. He completed nine. Seven were for touchdowns. That’s a pretty good ratio!
Indiana(-6.5) at Purdue: HIT! Is 18 a lot? If so, I get bonus points!

Maryland at Rutgers(-2.5): HIT! This line was a joke, but Maryland was nice and didn’t embarrass the oddsmakers. It was close.
Southern Mississippi at Louisiana Tech(-5.5): MISS! Southern Miss was the most improved team from last year to this year. This was the capper on their nice season, and they will be rewarded with a decent bowl game.
Ohio State(-1.5) at Michigan: MISS! I was wrong about Ohio State. Don’t look now, but the Buckeyes still have a shot at the playoffs. If Clemson loses, the Buckeyes could be in position to jump up to fourth regardless of who wins the Big Ten (14) championship. Winning the title last year could go along way towards the committee letting two Big Ten(14) teams in.
Florida Atlantic(-3.5) at Old Dominion: MISS! It’s not often that a team wins and can’t cover this low of a spread. Oh well.
Clemson(-18.5) at South Carolina: HIT! Clemson has played uninspired football since beating Florida State. Will it cost them this weekend?
Virginia Tech(-3.5) at Virginia: MISS! The Hokies bought Beamer one more game, but that stupid half got me.
Georgia(-4.5) at Georgia Tech: MISS! The struggle is real for the Yellow Jackets. This was a really bad year for them.
Louisville(-5.5) at Kentucky: HIT! I am convinced that the only reason Mark Stoops was not fired is because of all the competition for coaching jobs around the country, and the Wildcats were afraid they couldn’t do any better. If the Wildcats collapse again next year, he might not last the season.
Boston College(-2.5) at Syracuse: HIT! Well, I was a little off, but the margin was right. I said 9-6 Orange. It was 20-17.
Duke(-3.5) at Wake Forest: HIT! More easy money.
UNLV(-2.5) at Wyoming: HIT! So, since I ditched flipping a coin, I am 2-0 in one pointers this week. I should trust my instincts more often!
Louisiana-Lafayette at Appalachian State(-23.5): MISS! Damn! It was just a little high!
South Alabama at Georgia Southern(-21.5): HIT! The Eagles are already one of the best teams in the Sun Belt. Can they keep it up after losing Allison and Breida at the end of this year?
Middle Tennessee State(-11.5) at UTSA: HIT! Wow, I didn’t think the Roadrunners would get run over at home, but they did.
Colorado at Utah(-16.5): HIT! Joe Williams has been a very good back, but he is not the game changer that Booker is. Utah is going to struggle in the bowl game if Booker can’t return.
Northwestern(-3.5) at Illinois: HIT! Look at all the (better) road teams covering in rivalry games! Impressive!
Charlotte at Rice(-10.5): HIT! The boycott works, folks. It really works.
Penn State at Michigan State(-10.5): HIT! This is what you call a statement for the Spartans. Can they beat Iowa to get into the playoff now?
Wisconsin(-2.5) at Minnesota: MISS! Minnesota’s defense failed them in this one. And it will keep them out of a bowl game.
UTEP at North Texas(-2.5): MISS! So much for home field advantage….
North Carolina(-4.5) at North Carolina State: HIT! The 11 point win moved them up to tenth, but can they jump Florida State, Notre Dame, Stanford, Ohio State, and the loser of the Big Ten (14) Championship with an upset of Clemson? Being that Clemson is ranked number one, don’t be surprised if they do!
Alabama(-14.5) at Auburn: HIT! Thank you Derrick Henry!!
UCLA at USC(-2.5): MISS! The “on again” Trojans showed up in this one. Consistency would be nice so I could at least try to pick them once in a while…..
BYU(-3.5) at Utah State: HIT! Well, the Cougars couldn’t win the Holy War Trilogy, but at least they didn’t finish last.
Arkansas State(-17.5) at New Mexico State: MISS! Maybe I should institute zero point wagers for next year…..
Vanderbilt at Tennessee(-17.5): MISS! Ugh! I knew better!
Kansas State(-20.5) at Kansas: MISS! I deserved to lose that one for taking Kansas. They are 0-12 for a reason.
Texas State at Idaho(-3.5): HIT! Wow. Idaho won four games! It’s a party in Moscow (Idaho, not Russia)!
Connecticut at Temple(-12.5): MISS! So much for the UConn defense.
Mississippi(-1.5) at Mississippi State: HIT! Ole Miss looks to be Cotton Bowl bound against either Baylor or Oklahoma State. The Cotton Bowl will be must-see TV again this bowl season!
Florida State(-2.5) at Florida: HIT! This was easy money. Florida’s offense is miserable right now.
Texas A&M at LSU(-5.5): HIT! Why are people so down on LSU. Yeah, they don’t have a quarterback, but they still have NFL talent at every other position. They are still hard to beat.
Notre Dame at Stanford(-3.5): HIT! Stanford got the win which helped Oklahoma, but they didn’t cover, which helped me! It can’t get any more successful than that!
Oklahoma(-6.5) at Oklahoma State: HIT! This was the statement that the Sooners needed to make with most of the college football world watching.
Colorado State(-10.5) at Fresno State: MISS! I’m not taking Colorado State in their bowl game. This was ridiculous! They needed two punt return touchdowns to take down Fresno!
Arizona State at California(-3.5): HIT! I did pretty well picking against halves this week.
Air Force(-9.5) at New Mexico: MISS! The Lobos will be interesting to pick in a bowl game because they will likely be close to home in the New Mexico bowl.
Nevada at San Diego State(-7.5): HIT! The Aztecs are tough to stop with two good running backs.
Louisiana-Monroe at Hawaii(-3.5): MISS! I deserve it for going against my Hawaii boycott.

I went 36-26 in the last full week to put me at 376-333 on the season. That is good enough for 53%. I likely wont hit my 55% goal, but if I finish strong, I can come close!
Here is the breakdown by the points system. Season totals are in parenthesis:
1: 5-3 (38-35)
2. 8-16 (107-102)
3. 11-6 (127-119)
4. 9-0 (74-54)
5. 3-1 (30-23)
I won 47 points this week on my points scale. That puts me at +152 on the season. I am taking some money home! Hopefully you are as well!
