Winner:

St. Louis Cardinals

According to Bob Nightengale, the St. Louis Cardinals finished second in the running for David Price. Had the Cardinals landed Price, it would have made them the favorites to win the National League in 2016. The thing is, they probably are favorites in the eyes of many already.

While they did finish second in the race for Price and lose out, they are a winner in the sense that Price didn’t end up landing with the Chicago Cubs. With how competitive the National League Central already is with the Chicago Cubs and the Pittsburgh Pirates, the St. Louis Cardinals already have big challenges in front of them, as they try to hold off the two young talented teams.

With Price not in the division, it means the Cardinals have absolutely one less thing to worry about. Price on the Cubs would have turned them into a downright dominant force in Major League Baseball. Having already lost to the Cubs in the NLDS this season, the Cardinals don’t need the Cubs to gain any more advantages than they have.

The future of the National League Central is going to be some great battles between these three teams. The Cardinals are looking to rebound in 2016 and hopefully make their way back to the World Series.

If David Price had signed with the Cubs, that probably wouldn’t happen.
