Waiver Wire Week 13

We are now to the final week of the regular season for fantasy football for most leagues and the playoffs will be finalized for most of us very soon. By this point you probably have a good idea of whether your team will be in action in week 14 or whether you will simply be in the consolation ladder.

Wherever your team lands I want to continue to encourage you to set your lineups and do your due diligence in running your fantasy football team. If you are in any sort of keeper league I would encourage you to continue to work your waiver wire and try to find a gem that could possibly be a keeper for your fantasy team. In fact, if you are in a keeper or a dynasty league I would not be sad to see you begin to add players simply on the premise of what they can mean to your team next year. Now I don’t suggest that you do so at the expense of being able to compete in your consolation ladder games, but to have your eye on next season is a very good thing.

With that said let us move forward and take a look at some players who I think can be a good addition to your fantasy football team.

Quarterbacks:

QB – Alex Smith – Smith has been a solid QB for most of this season and is a guy who is probably not going to win you any weeks, but will most weeks be a guy who is not going to gt you beat either. Smith has a pretty good match-up for week 13 and is not too awful for the fantasy playoffs either. If you are playing in week 17 he gets the Raiders again and should have a pretty decent week against them.

QB – Ryan Fitzpatrick – Fitzpatrick has been pretty solid this season and is actually the 15th overall QB in ESPN.com standard scoring leagues. I am kind of surprised that he is still hanging around on so many waiver wires with the injuries to Tony Romo and others. If you are in need of a backup go ahead and add him to your roster.

Next: Week 13 Waiver Wire Running Backs

November 29, 2015; Santa Clara, CA, USA; Arizona Cardinals running back David Johnson (31) celebrates after scoring a touchdown against the San Francisco 49ers during the third quarter at Levi

Running Backs:

RB – David Johnson – Sometimes waiver wire adds are simply based on attrition. This could be the case here as the Cardinals are looking like they will be without both Chris Johnson and Andre Ellington. David Johnson is looking like a solid add for week 13 as he should get the bulk of the work and be a horse for the Cardinals. CJ?K has a broken tibia and will not cloud up the fantasy future for Johnson, but Ellington’s potential return is pretty unclear at this point. Give Johnson a look if you are in need of RB help.

RB – Shaun Draughn – Draughn is not exactly setting the woods on fire here, but he has been effective enough and had enough touches to be a fantasy factor. He faces a Bears defense that should allow him to be in the flex conversation this week and possibly even posting RB2 type of numbers. Give him a look especially in PPR leagues.

RB – Ameer Abdullah – Abdullah has seen a nice amount of work in his past two games. He has seen roughly 30 touches and will likely continue to see around 15 touches per game. With the way that most waiver wires are thinned out and that amount of touches this puts him in the conversation to be added to your fantasy football roster. If you are in need of a back give him a look.

Next: Week 13 Waiver Wire Wide Receivers

Wide Receivers:

WR – Markus Wheaton – Wheaton had a lot fo hype coming into this season and was expected to fill the WR2 role in Pittsburgh and see some moderate fantasy success. With the injury early on to Ben Roethlisberger that never really panned out. He may not do anything else the rest of the season, but if you have a spot you can’t ignore what he did against a solid Seahawks defense. I realize that they primarily worked to shut down Antonio Brown, but I would still add Wheaton and see what happens going forward.

WR – Dontrelle Inman – Inman has been another guy who has been a benefactor of getting snaps due to attrition. The Chargers have lost several WRs and have had injury problems with Antonio Gates as well. As a result Inman has been asked to step up and has responded to the call. Give him a look if you are in need of WR help in your league.

WR – DeVante Parker – Parker saw some extra snaps after Rishard Matthews was knocked from the game and filled in admirably with four catches on 10 targets turning one of those catches into a touchdown. I am not ready to start him unless you are desperate, but he is a very good stash moving forward.

Next: Week 13 Waiver Wire Tight Ends

Tight Ends:

TE – Scott Chandler – Chandler could possibly see quite a bit more targets this coming week with Rob Gronkowski ailing and could be a key factor for the Patriots moving forward. If I owned Gronkowski anywhere Chandler would be my number one add without question.

TE – Jacob Tamme – Tamme is not a great player, but he has shown us that when Leonard Hankerson is missing, than he will be a contributor to the Falcons offense. I would only add him and use him in a pinch, and only if Hankerson is inactive.

TE – Kyle Rudolph – Rudolph has seen a tremendous amount of volume in the past few weeks. Now he faces off with the Seahawks who have been very friendly to fantasy tight ends. I expect the Vikings to look to exploit that and take full advantage and would probably consider Rudolph as a solid TE1 for week 13. Give him a look as well if you are dealing with injuries at your TE spot.

As always we thank you all for stopping by and wish you the best of luck!
