The Green Bay Packers have been in a rut lately, and it is going to cost them the NFC North.
The Green Bay Packers have been a playoff team for some time now. Under the leadership of Aaron Rodgers, the team has been to the playoffs every year since 2009 and won the NFC North every year since 2011.
Despite their long running success and recent domination of the NFC North, they’re certainly at risk of losing their crown of the division this season.
After going 6-0 through the first six weeks, the Packers came out of a bye in Week 8 not looking great. They lost their first game, and would drop two more games following that – including a head-scratcher at home to the Detroit Lions. Since their bye week, the team has ultimately gone 1-4, an unimpressive showing and not what Packer fans are used to.
And yet, the defeat they’re coming off of this week bites the most. They lost to the Chicago Bears on Thanksgiving day at home in a game that should have been all about the Packers, especially since Brett Favre had his number retired at halftime. The Bears, who have historically had trouble at Lambeau field, were able to come out with a win Thursday night, which has really capped off the Packers’ struggles as of late.
Although the Packers still have a shot at the Wild Card, they won’t be getting into the playoffs by winning the NFC North.
