After missing two games already due to a foot injury, Peyton Manning has had his cast taken off and is now cleared to start rehab on his injury.

Peyton Manning missed the last two games for the Denver Broncos due to a torn plantar fascia in his right foot, but things are finally looking up for the 14-time Pro Bowler. According to Adam Schefter, Manning has progressed today in his injury, as told by head coach Gary Kubiak.

Although Manning was permitted to have his cast on the right foot taken off, the boot remains, as he starts his rehabilitation period. It’s good news, but this doesn’t mean Manning is ready to come back by any means. The Broncos will still be happy to have him back when that time comes. The team is still very much in the playoff race, currently first place in the AFC West with a record of 9-2.

Since losing Manning due to this injury, Brock Osweiler has taken the reigns under center and hasn’t done poorly, leading the Broncos to two straight wins. In the past two weeks he has thrown for a total of 520 yards, three touchdowns and one interception.

The timetable for Manning’s return is still largely uncertain but things appear to be moving quickly, which could lead to him returning in time for the playoffs. Some believe this may be one of the final years of Manning’s historic career, and that it could be his last crack at his second Super Bowl title.
