Calvin Johnson has already had himself a good first quarter against the Green Bay Packers.

Entering Thursday’s game, many were concerned about the status of the Green Bay Packers and how far they were really trending in the wrong direction.

The first quarter did nothing to calm down the chatter of just how good (bad) this Packers team currently is.

Late in the quarter, Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford threw a touchdown pass to tight end Eric Ebron to give the Lions a 10-0 lead. On the very next series, Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers threw an interception:

Starting at Green Bay’s 17-yard line, the Lions quickly cashed in the excellent field position on the very next play with a touchdown connection from Stafford to Calvin Johnson:

The duo made it look relatively easy, like they always do. Megatron had two receptions for 37 yards with that touchdown during the opening frame, and the Lions quickly jumped on the Packers for a 17-0 lead scoring each touchdown just 48 seconds apart. Stafford started 8-of-9 for 73 yards with two touchdowns.

The 7-4 Packers already lost to the 4-7 Detroit Lions once this season when the Lions defeated Green Bay at Lambeau Field for the first time since 1991.  Also, 1991 was the last time when the Lions swept the season series with the Packers.

The Packers entered tonight one game back in the NFC North looking up at the 8-3 Minnesota Vikings, a team they already defeated earlier this season. A loss here would send Green Bay back another half game in the NFC North entering Sunday’s games.
