Green Bay Packers beat Lions on insane Hail Mary: Twitter reacts
By Phil Naegely
The Green Bay Packers beat the Detroit Lions on a last-minute Hail Mary and the internet exploded.
After the Detroit Lions were called for a face mask penalty, the Green Bay Packers got one more play as the clock had hit zeros. Aaron Rodgers didn’t waste the opportunity and threw a bomb down the field on the Hail Mary and connected with Richard Rodgers to win 27-23 over the Lions.
With the exciting play by Rodgers and the odds against the Packers on that play, Twitter blew up with reaction of the game-winning play. Rodgers threw the ball almost 65-70 yards long and very high into the air.
The Packers trailed 20-0 part way through the third quarter. For the Lions it is a disappointing way to basically end their chances of winning the division this season and having any chance of making the playoffs.
With the Packers late score, the game’s result changed and many beat writers were now forced to scrapped their almost completed game stories.
Many Thursday Night Football games have been horrible this year. Yet, this one was one for the ages and CBS and the NFL Network benefited from the NFC North foes facing off.
