After fracturing his kneecap in the NBA Finals, Cleveland Cavaliers guard Kyrie Irving could be close to a return.

The Cleveland Cavaliers might be getting their star point guard back soon. After fracturing his kneecap during the NBA Finals, Irving has been out for an extended period of time, as the Cavaliers try to get through as much of the schedule as they can, while being patient with bringing him back.

According to the Associated Press, Irving has been fully cleared to practice and could be rejoining the Cleveland Cavaliers very soon, as they chase down an NBA Championship.

"Cavaliers All-Star guard Kyrie Irving is fully cleared to practice and says he’s made “the biggest step” in his comeback from a broken left kneecap.Irving didn’t disclose a date for his season debut, but said Thursday that he’s made significant progress and won’t look back – or hold back – once he’s on the floor. When he returns, Irving says: “I’m a Ferrari without a rearview mirror.”"

There’s no doubt that getting Kyrie Irving back will be a huge emotional boost for the Cleveland Cavaliers. With Irving on the court, the Cavaliers have another superstar that they can look to, to help carry the load on the court.

The Cavaliers have big picture in mind, and that is an NBA Championship. They’re certainly not going to do anything to rush bringing Irving back, but they will certainly be better off when he is on the court.

Last year during the NBA Finals, it was very apparent that the Cavaliers could not withstand the shooting prowess of the Golden State Warriors without Irving to help shoulder some of the scoring load. They’re going to need him in June, if they get back there, which is a high likelihood in the Eastern Conference.

The good news is that Irving has been cleared to practice. If that’s any indicator, his return is right around the corner.
