Put these five NFL teams on upset alert heading into Week 13

The New England Patriots are no longer one of the remaining undefeated NFL teams in the 2015 season after they fell to the Denver Broncos in Week 12 in a snowy affair. However, it’s fair to say that their first loss of the season had been brewing for quite some time, even it took until last week for it to actually happen.

As is often the case around this time of the year with at least a few teams, the Patriots have been absolutely ravaged with injuries this season. In the loss to Denver, they were without Jamie Collins and Danny Amendola in addition to already being without Julian Edelman and Dion Lewis after they both suffered season-ending injuries. Then, to exacerbate the problem, the Patriots lost Rob Gronkowski at the end of the matchup.

Even with New England coming into Week 13 still very banged up, there’s almost no chance that they are going to be upset again. The Pats will be back home in Foxboro, MA this week to take on the mightily struggling Philadelphia Eagles. As long as Tom Brady is still upright and healthy, there’s no way anyone in their right mind would say that an Eagles team that has been getting blown out in recent games stands a chance against the Patriots.

However, the Patriots’ loss last week leaves only one undefeated team left in the league in the Carolina Panthers. Carolina is going to be on the road in this game for a potentially dangerous matchup with the New Orleans Saints. Despite New Orleans’ 4-7 record, the team led by Drew Brees is always going to have the potential to explode and pick up a victory, no matter the quality of opponent.

The Saints don’t particularly scare me in this matchup in terms of potentially upsetting the Panthers, though, and Carolina should very well be able to move onto 12-0 if Cam Newton can continue playing at an MVP level and if their defense can maintain their performance as one of the best units in the league.

While the two best teams in the league may not be on upset alert in Week 13, there are still a number of intriguing matchups that could almost certainly result in an upset when it’s all said and done. These are the five NFL teams on upset alert this week.
