Bart Scott hid in a bathroom to avoid signing with Browns
By Mike Dyce
Bart Scott once hid in a bathroom to avoid playing for the Cleveland Browns.
The Cleveland Browns are a miserable franchise for a lot of reasons. One of their hindrances to getting better is that big free agents don’t want to play there and unlike the Cavaliers, the Browns are without a superstar to attract players.
Players go to the Browns out of desperation and would avoid playing there at all costs, take Bart Scott for example. Scott was at the Browns facility to sign a contract to play in Cleveland until he heard the Baltimore Ravens were interested.
Once he found that out, he hid from the Browns in a bathroom to avoid signing with them while the Ravens worked things out.
From Bleacher Report’s Simms & Lefkoe Podcast with Chris Simms and Adam Lefkoe
"“I went to the bathroom, [the Ravens] said, ‘Get the hell out of there, we’ll give you a deal.’ I said, ‘Thank you, Jesus.’ […] I was visiting the Browns, and [Ravens GM] Ozzie [Newsome] called me up. My agent was like, ‘ […] Can you get the hell out of there?’ I said, ‘Hells yeah.’ I went to the bathroom, and Romeo Crennel, have you ever heard Romeo Crennel talk? He sounds like Kermit, ‘Hey Bart, you think you can come here?’ So I hid in the bathroom, Ozzie agreed. My agent said, ‘We good to go.’ I said, ‘Thank you guys very much, thank you all for coming out, good night, God bless.’”"
Then Scott says he hit them with the “deuces” and strutted on out of Ohio for good.
