Ben Roethlisberger probable versus Indianapolis Colts

Ben Roethlisberger, who removed himself from Sunday’s game versus the Seattle Seahawks because of a concussion, is listed as probable versus the Colts.

According to Around The NFL’s Conor Orr, Ben Roethlisberger will probably play on Sunday Night Football when Roethlisberger’s Pittsburgh Steelers host the Indianapolis Colts. Roethlisberger is coming off a game in which he removed himself from the contest due to concerns over a concussion.

Big Ben reportedly doesn’t want to mess around with head trauma, despite his obvious toughness playing through any other type of football injury. Roethlisberger cleared concussion protocol and had his second consecutive practice Friday with no limitations. He should start at quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday Night Football.

Pittsburgh like Indianapolis are 6-5 on the year and are very much alive in the AFC Wild Card race. The Steelers are likely not catching first place Cincinnati who are 9-2 on the year, but will have to fight for either AFC Wild Card spot among several teams that are 6-5 or 5-6 in the final five weeks of the season.

Ben Roethlisberger has created a reputation built on toughness, playing through obvious pain to help get his Steelers into the AFC Playoffs to hopefully contend for Super Bowls. Though he his backups of Michael Vick and Landry Jones have done better than expected in Roethlisberger’s early season injury woes with his foot, the Steelers are always a better team with Big Ben under center.

Pittsburgh is one of a few teams in the AFC Wild Card race that could take a fifth or sixth seed in the conference and turn it into a deep playoff run, possibly playing for a shot at Super Bowl in the 2015 AFC Championship Game. How Pittsburgh performs at home on Sunday Night Football will go a long way in deciding the fate of both the Steelers and the Colts. One will move to 7-5, while to other will fall to .500 at 6-6.
