Brooklyn Nets vs. New York Knicks

It hasn’t bee the ideal start to the season for the Brooklyn Nets as they’re just 5-13 and sitting in 14th place in the Eastern Conference. The Nets have been struggling with the long-ball this season and the absence of Deron Williams has impacted this team negatively. The Nets are making an average of 4.7 threes per game and shooting just 29.7 percent from downtown.

Brook Lopez might be one of the best big men in the league, but averaging just 8.3 rebounds per game hasn’t helped this team with second-chance points. The fact that Lopez doesn’t even lead his own team in rebounding is a bad sign. Brooklyn will need a win against intra-city rival, the New York Knicks.

The Knicks, on the other hand, have been an improved team. New York is 11th in a surprisingly-strong Eastern Conference this year with a 9-10 record.

As expected, Carmelo Anthony is the team’s leading scorer as he averages over 21 points per game, but Kristaps Porzingis, once booed on NBA Draft night, has been a Rookie of the Year candidate with his 13.8 points and 9.3 rebounds per game through the first month. He has been a revelation and there aren’t many players who can match his energy.
