The New York Rangers made one young girl’s dream come true, when they signed her to a one-day deal.
The New York Rangers are a top-notch organization on the ice and off of it. They also made history in the NHL on Thursday, when they signed young seven-year-old Kayleigh Petersen to a one-day contract.
Petersen had to undergo a liver transplant in 2009, after she was diagnosed with a very rare genetic disorder known as Tyrosinemia Type 1, which can result in severe liver disease. Thanks to the Make-A-Wish Foundation and the New York Rangers, she was able to live out a life dream of hers.
By signing a one-day contract with the Rangers, Petersen made history by becoming the first female in the team’s 90 years of hockey to sign a one-day contract with the club.

Not only did she get to sign with the team for a day, she got to lead them out on the ice as the first skater on during player introductions.

She not only got to do that as well, but she also got to hang out with and meet all the players. Perhaps the best part of the whole night was when she got to meet everybody’s favorite Ranger and all-around great guy, Henrik Lundqvist.
