The holiday was not kind to us in this space. Thanksgiving was a full-on bloodbath with an 0-2 record as the public celebrated victories, and on Monday, we took a kick in the teeth as Baltimore returned a blocked field goal for a touchdown to seal what was the worst output of the season in this space.

Fear not, though, as we are back with a vengeance this week, and losing performances simply aren’t acceptable. Fortunately, it was preceded by back-to-back 4-1 weeks, and the season-long effort remains strong. Let’s check in on where we are:

  • Last Week: 1-4
  • Season: 33-25-2

It is hard to argue with 57% against the spread in the NFL, and with that, let’s get to the picks that will hopefully make your weekend more enjoyable.

Cleveland Browns (+9.5) over Cincinnati Bengals

If you have been following my picks for a while, you knew this was coming. Cleveland melted down on Monday night in a bad loss to Baltimore, and Austin Davis is starting at quarterback for the Browns against a very good team in the Bengals. As such, the line is quite high, and absolutely everyone is on Cleveland.

Take the points.

I’m basically taking anyone getting double-digits at home but in a division game? Sign me up. More than 80% of the action is on Cincy (per Sports Insights) and I’m going the other way with an ugly underdog pick, because that is what we do here.
