PETA isn’t happy about Floyd Mayweather having a tiger as a pet.
Floyd Mayweather’s latest flashy accessory to show off is a pet tiger that he received while in Russia. When Mayweather showed off his tiger, everyone thought he was crazy for getting a tiger as a pet. Tigers aren’t made to be pets and should be out in the wild where they belong.
So when PETA saw that Mayweather received a tiger as a gift, they sent him a message, or in this case a suggestion about what he should do with the two-month-old female tiger that he received.
PETA would go on to further explain why it is best for Mayweather to send the young tiger to a sanctuary.
"Mayweather can have anything he wants, and what he should want is an end to the wild-animal trade, not to be a facilitator of it. Tigers do poorly as “pets” – they belong in their native habitats, not in a cage in a celebrity’s home as a “show-off” prop, 100 per cent certain to be discarded at a roadside zoo or a cheap circus or to meet some other tawdry end after they become too strong to handle and begin to show a will of their own.Wild animals kept as amusements never have a fighting chance at a natural life. Having been torn away from their mothers at a young age, many are violently beaten by trainers and all are deprived of what’s natural and important to them. PETA appeals to Floyd Mayweather to be a real champ for animals and allow his “Christmas present” to be moved to a wildlife sanctuary."
While PETA has protested always on the side of the ethical treatment of animals, this is by far a more than reasonable request, because there is no reason for an animal that large and outside of its habitat to be used as a pet.
Mayweather can afford a pet such as a tiger, yes, but unless he has a tiger sanctuary for the animal to run around in, it probably isn’t best off with him.
It’s a large cat that needs to be in the wild, where it can assimilate and live a full healthy life without the fear of being taken for game or any types of animal abuse.
It’s a cool animal to show off, but the reality is that it’s absolutely not a pet at all.
