Lionel Messi received Stephen Curry’s No. 30 jersey to commemorate reaching 30 million followers on Instagram.

Greatness recognizing greatness.

That’s what happened between two stars at the top of their respective games. Barcelona’s Lionel Messi, widely considered to be the greatest soccer player active today, recently reached a milestone of another sort: 30 million followers on Instagram. And while this accomplishment probably doesn’t mean as much to Messi as the historic treble his team completed earlier this year, it’s still a noteworthy feat — at least to basketball superstar Stephen Curry.

The reigning MVP, NBA champion, and Golden State Warriors frontman congratulated Messi with a video on Instagram, adding that “we got to get you out to a Dubs game, sooner or later, to help you celebrate… but in the meantime, had to get you this No. 30 jersey (to) celebrate all your followers.”

It appears the autographed jersey has arrived, as Messi was quick to put up his own post on Instagram. In it, the Barca star holds up the Curry jersey with a big smile on his face, and captioned the photo with a thank-you note to the sender, along with a playful message promising “as soon as you get 10M I’ll send you mine!”
