Watch as Aaron Rodgers almost hit rafters on Hail Mary (Video)

Everyone knows that Green Bay Packers’ quarterback Aaron Rodgers has arm strength to spare, but he almost put too much into his Hail Mary winner on Thursday night.

The Green Bay Packers escaped Detroit with a incredible come from behind win on Thursday night thanks to a late penalty and a Hail Mary for the ages. However, the bomb thrown by Aaron Rodgers may have had a much different result if it went just a few feet higher.

As you can see from the video below, Instagram user “brandicle” had a great seat for the perfect show of Rodgers’ pass. Seated on the line of scrimmage, we get a good look at how the Packers quarterback escapes the rush before heaving a ball that nearly scraped the roof.

As the ball reaches the Lions’ 30-yard line, it hits the crest of its height. Notice just how close that pass came to hitting the huge rafter holding up the roof before it started its patch downward into the waiting arms of tight end Richard Rodgers Jr. for the game winning touchdown.

Think about the strength needed to heave that ball up there. The roof at Ford Field is 128 feet tall. Rodgers not only had to scale the ball to that height, but also drop it into the end zone a good 60 yards down the field. The fact that he did it with pin-prick touch is phenomenal when you consider that the ball likely traveled close to 100 yards, per Yahoo Sports.

That’s a long way for one football to fly, but I’m sure Rodgers would put his back into another one if it meant another game-winning score.
