No. 14 Syracuse Orange vs. Georgetown Hoyas

After a strong start to the season in which they started 6-0 with two wins over ranked opponents, the Syracuse Orange suffered their first loss of the year at home against a struggling Wisconsin team. Now the Orange must face a team that the Badgers couldn’t defeat just a couple of weeks ago in the Georgetown Hoyas on the road.

Without Jim Boeheim for the next nine games due to an upheld suspension, the Orange will have to rebound and prove their 6-0 surge to begin the year was no fluke. Senior forward Michael Gibinije has been the star of the team, leading Syracuse in scoring with 19.6 points while shooting an unheard of 51 percent from three-point range. If he keeps up that kind of shooting, this team will be tough to beat in ACC play.

This old Big East rivalry has had some memorable moments when facing off against each other, but the Georgetown Hoyas have since faded back into the middle-tier of college basketball teams in recent years. After a disappointing 3-3 start to the season, including a season-opening loss at home against Radford, the Hoyas are looking to rebound for a tournament run.

Which Georgetown team will we see in this one, the one that beat Wisconsin handily or the one that lost to Radford to start the season? If senior guard D’Vauntes Smith-Rivera is on his game, the Hoyas will be hard to slow down.
