AFC Playoff Picture 2015: Week 13
By Josh Hill
The NFL Playoff picture is starting to take shape, but what exactly do things look like over in the AFC?
We are almost 13 full weeks through the NFL season, and the playoff picture on the AFC is starting to come together — a little.
Things are still very muddled at the top, as there are three teams tied at 10-2, with the Broncos owning a tie-breaker over the Patriots that could prove valuable at the end of the day. Cincinnati is in a position to earn a first-round bye — which would be the only way they’ve made it past Wild Card weekend in the Andy Dalton era.
Here’s a look at the current playoff picture in the AFC as we prepare for Monday Night Football:
1. Bengals (10-2)
2. Broncos (10-2)
3. Patriots (10-2)
4. Colts (6-6)
WC1. Chiefs (7-5)
WC2. Jets (7-5)
On the outside looking in are:
Steelers (7-5)
Bills (6-6)
Texans (6-6)
Dolphins (5-7)
Raiders (5-7)
So if the playoffs started today, these would be our matchups in the Wild Card weekend of the postseason:
Patriots vs. Jets
Colts vs. Chiefs
For Chiefs fans, this would be a scenario that opens up the possibility for revenge from the last time Kansas City was in the postseason. If you remember, the Chiefs lost in the most Chiefs way possible, and would be right back in the same position this year.
All hope is not lost for teams on the outside looking in though. The Steelers beating the Colts on Sunday Night very much helped keep them alive, as they’re now eying Kansas City and/or New York to see if they make a misstep down the stretch. Houston can still win the AFC South and host a playoff game this postseason while the Raiders and Dolphins are more in need of help.
