Jameis Winston was able to cap off a 13-play, 77-yard drive for the Buccaneers with a touchdown.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers get on the board first with a strong 5-yard scamper down in the red zone to take a 6-0 lead over their division rival in the Atlanta Falcons.

It seems as though the Buccaneers are choosing to attack the Falcons on the ground in this win or go home rivalry game. Atlanta was the No. 1 overall rushing defense before playing Adrian Peterson and the Minnesota Vikings at home in Week 12. Tampa Bay seems confident enough to persistently pound the rock against the now No. 10 run defense.

Doug Martin continued to prove that last year was only a sophomore slump that drive. The ground game of the Buccaneers gave the Falcons a bit of trouble in the first quarter of this Week 13 contest. Ideally offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter wants to open up the passing game for Winston by establishing the run against Koetter’s former employer. Koetter was the Falcons’ offensive coordinator in 2014.

Down in the red zone, Winston took a five-step drop obviously looking to complete a pass. When the pocket collapsed on the interior almost instantaneously, Winston went to his right trying to buy some time to hit one of two targets on that side of the field.

He then saw a clear running lane and went for the end zone himself, diving in for the first touchdown of the game at the goal line. This was Winston’s fifth rushing touchdown in his rookie year and it gave the Buccaneers the early lead in this crucial NFC South matchup against the Falcons. The point after attempt was a success and Tampa Bay went up 7-0 after that well-orchestrated drive by Winston.
