New England Patriots’ wide receiver Danny Amendola is expected to play against the Philadelphia Eagles

The New England Patriots have been decimated by injuries in recent weeks. After Julian Edelman went down until the playoffs, and star tight end Rob Gronkowski currently week to week with a knee injury, many of Tom Brady’s main weapons are no longer available to him. It showed last week, when the Patriots’ offense stalled against a very good Broncos’ defense on Sunday Night Football.

So, it will be like music to the ears of Tom Brady to hear the news of Danny Amendola’s return. Replacing Edelman in the slot, Amendola had begun to look like a dangerous weapon in the Patriots’ passing attack before he went down with a knee injury in the Week 11 win over the Bills. He has been limited in practice all week, but according to Ian Rapoport, the wide receiver will play against the Eagles.

The Philadelphia Eagles are currently tail spinning their way out of contention in an already woeful NFC East, and the news of Amendola’s return will not help a secondary that already has significant issues.

Meanwhile, Brady and his Patriots are reeling after the loss of their unbeaten record. They have a game lead in the AFC, and will look to solidify their position as the best team in the conference with yet another win on Sunday.

The AFC East is all but wrapped up for the Patriots, so the season rests on their ability to get some major players back on the field and securing the number one seed in the AFC. Sunday will be yet another stepping stone, and Danny Amendola will be a part of it.
