Bon Jovi wants to buy the Tennessee Titans?
By John Buhler
Jon Bon Jovi would consider being a potential buyer of the NFL’s Tennessee Titans franchise should they ever come up for sale.
According to CBS Sports’ Jason La Canfora, rock n’ roll star Jon Bon Jovi would like to throw his name into the ring to buy the Tennessee Titans, should the franchise become available for sale in the not-so distant future.
Bon Jovi was serious about buying the Buffalo Bills when the Wilson Family decided to part ways with the franchise a few years back. The Bills went to Buffalo Sabres owner Terry Pegula and his family that adamantly wanted to keep the Bills in Western New York.
The Adams Family has reportedly been absent in owners meeting since the death of patriarch Bud Adams a few years ago. While the family has denied any notion of an impending sale, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell would likely want an engaged ownership group operating one of the league’s 32 franchises.
Bon Jovi’s interest in stakes in the Titans is reportedly real, as Nashville would provide the lead singer with both NFL and music opportunities. For a town best known as Music City, it seemed like only a matter of time before a music superstar would want a piece of the pie in owning the city’s NFL franchise.
The issue surrounding Bon Jovi is if he has enough capital to purchase the Titans should the Adams Family make them available for sale. Adams made his money in oil in Texas, while Bon Jovi made his writing and promoting platinum records.
While Bon Jovi’s potential bid at owning the Titans seems like a long shot, some of the NFL’s new school owners like Jerry Jones or Shad Khan may throw support in Bon Jovi’s record as he would give them leverage from some of the traditionalist owners like the Mara or Rooney Families. The Bon Jovi is ‘livin’ on a prayer’ with a potential NFL bid, it is his life and he can pursue his interests anyway he pleases.
