Goalies

There are just six teams playing tonight. That means that you have six options to choose from. Let’s take a look at each of the options.

The Buffalo Sabres and Vancouver Canucks will both be starting goalies that are worthwhile considering grabbing for your fantasy hockey lineup. Ryan Miller of the Canucks will likely get the start. He averages 3.7 fantasy hockey points per game and costs $7,400. The Sabres are tied for the sixth-worst offense in the league with 65 goals scored this season. The Sabres will likely be starting backup goaltender Linus Ullmark on Monday after Chad Johnson played on Sunday. He averages 3.9 fantasy hockey points per game and costs $7,700.

Darcy Kuemper of the Minnesota Wild and Semyon Varlamov of the Colorado Avalanche will likely be getting the start in goal for their respective teams. Kuemper will be starting because Devan Dubnyk is day-to-day with an undisclosed injury. Kuemper averages 3.2 fantasy hockey points per game and will cost you $7,200. Varlamov averages 3.3 fantasy points per game and costs $8,200.

The Boston Bruins will most likely start Tuukka Rask in net against the Predators. Rask averages 4.2 fantasy points per game and costs $8,200. The Predators are a below average goal scoring team so Rask has a favorable matchup on his side. The Predators are playing on Monday and Tuesday, so it remains to be seen who they will be starting. They will most likely go with Pekka Rinne, but keep an eye on that situation throughout the day. Rinne averages 3.9 fantasy hockey points and costs $8,200.

DAILY PICK: Your safe bet is Ryan Miller. Rask and Rinne are attractive options, but I personally don’t like splurging on goalies.
